Ride Free - Code Red

size="2" face="Tahoma">In the summer of 2008, Fairfax Connector, Metrobus (Northern Virginia), Alexandria DASH, Arlington Transit, Loudoun Commuter Bus, OmniRide, OmniLink, and CUE will offer free bus rides whenever a "Code Red" Bad Air day is forecast by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG).

Forecast Code Red Bad Air days occur when ozone levels are expected to be extremely high and air quality to be very poor. This program helps reduce air pollutants during the summer season by encouraging citizens to leave their cars at home and ride the bus. A free bus fare on Code days is just one of many tools and techniques which are helping the region meet and stay within federal clean air standards.
