Outreach Center:
Public Involvement
Northern Virginia citizens can play an important role in shaping the policies and future
of public transit in our region. Here you will find opportunities for involvement in the
transportation planning process. If you are interested in participating in the regional
transportation planning process, including major corridor projects, the following links
will provide information about relevant public meetings.

federal-aid transportation funds to flow to their regions. The TPB has monthly meetings at
noon on the third Wednesday of every month with a citizen comment period at the beginning
of each meeting. They also have a Citizen Advisory Committee that meets on the Thursday
preceding the TPB meetings. This link gives information on all the TPB subcommittee
meetings as well.

Virginia Transportation Authority (www.novaregion.org/novatrans/) The Northern
Virginia Transportation Authority was created by the Virginia General Assembly on July 1,
2002. The Authority is charged with developing a regional transportation plan involving
both, roads and transit; working with Northern Virginia's communities to develop regional
priorities and policies to improve air quality; and serving as an advocate for the
transportation needs of Northern Virginia before the state and federal governments. The
Authority welcomes involvement of the public in its activities.
